Common Purple and Gold

Similar to the Small Purple and Gold (Pyrausta aurata), the Common Purple and Gold (Pyrausta purpuralis) prefers dry grassland and chalky downland habitats rather than suburban gardens. It has two broods and is on the wing from May to June and July to August. It flies both during the day and at night.
